How to merge PDF files into one, for free
Updated November 2, 2026
A job application, a set of invoices, scanned pages: it's often simpler to send one file than five. Here is how to combine PDFs in your browser in less than a minute.
Merge your PDFs in three steps
You need at least two PDF files, up to 100 MB each.
- Open the Merge PDF tool and add your files.
- Use the arrows to put them in order, and remove any you don't need.
- Click "Merge and download" to get a single PDF.
Does merging reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied as they are: text stays sharp and images aren't compressed again. The final file is roughly the combined size of your originals, so a large result is normal. Check an email service's attachment limit before you send it.
What about password-protected PDFs?
A protected PDF can't be merged directly. Open it with its password, remove the protection in your PDF reader if you are allowed to, then add the new copy.
Before you send the file
Scroll through the whole document to confirm the order and that every page is there. Name the file clearly, for example "application-jane-smith.pdf". People who receive it will thank you.
